I started golfing when I was a graduate student at the University of Georgia. I was hooked pretty quickly. I love the challenge it presents, the competition of tournaments, the fresh air of being outdoors. Since then, I've had several instructors, many of whom were good with golf technique. Rarely, though, did any instructor focus on things like my past injuries and mobility challenges or how to mentally prepare for a round of golf or even a swing of the club.
I used my 30-year background in education research to study golf holistically and combine that with my knowledge of how people learn. Based on this background in education, I have founded my approach to golf instruction and coaching on Brain-based Learning.
My focus was on my own golf game until 2022 when I decided to shift gears and become a golf performance coach. I have earned certifications from:
The Titleist Performance Institute and the National Association of Sports Medicine. Combined, they represent a powerful tool to help with physical fitness and golf performance.
Trackman University. Understanding ball flight and how the clubface, swing path, speed, etc. affect ball flight provides critical knowledge for diagnosing and addressing each individual's swing.
Golfzon Leadbetter Education. In my mind, David Leadbetter's teaching about the golf swing is spot on. Combining that with the learning from the Titleist Performance Institute and Trackman University provides me a substantial body of knowledge to help my students establish the most efficient and effective swing and how to manage their way around the course.
Through these learning platforms, I want to help you develop and implement a plan to establish and support your own golf game, now and for a lifetime.
